Mt 11,25-30
First Reading
Dt 7,6-11
6 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. He has chosen you to be his people, prized above all others on the face of the earth. 7 It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the Lord favored and chose you—for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples. 8 Rather it is because of his love for you and his faithfulness to the promise he solemnly vowed to your ancestors that the Lord brought you out with great power, redeeming you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 So realize that the Lord your God is the true God, the faithful God who keeps covenant faithfully with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, 1 0 but who pays back those who hate him as they deserve and destroys them. He will not ignore those who hate him but will repay them as they deserve! 1 1 So keep the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that I today am commanding you to do.

1Jo 4,7-16
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been fathered by God and knows God. 8 The person who does not love does not know God because God is love. 9 By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God has sent his one and only Son into the world so that we may live through him. 1 0 In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 1 Dear friends, if God so loved us, then we also ought to love one another. 1 2 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God resides in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 3 By this we know that we reside in God and he in us: in that he has given us of his Spirit. 1 4 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 1 5 If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God resides in him and he in God. 1 6 And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has in us. God is love, and the one who resides in love resides in God, and God resides in him.
