Daily Mass Readings for August 23, 2026: Gospel — Mt 16,13-20

1 ⁹ I will remove you from your office; you will be thrown down from your position. 2 0 “‘At that time I will summon my servant Eliakim, son of Hilkiah. 2 ¹ I will put your robe on him, tie your belt around him, and transfer your authority to him. He will become a protector of the residents of Jerusalem and of the people of Judah. 2 ² I will place the key to the house of David on his shoulder. When he opens the door, no one can close it; when he closes the door, no one can open it. 2 ³ I will fasten him like a peg into a solid place; he will bring honor and respect to his father’s family.

3 ³ Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how unfathomable his ways! 3 ⁴ For who has known the mind of the Lord,or who has been his counselor? 3 ⁵ Or who has first given to God that God needs to repay him? 3 ⁶ For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever! Amen.
