8 Amalek came and attacked Israel in Rephidim. 9 So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” 1 0 So Joshua fought against Amalek just as Moses had instructed him, and Moses and Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 1 1 Whenever Moses would raise his hands, then Israel prevailed, but whenever he would rest his hands, then Amalek prevailed. 1 2 When the hands of Moses became heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other, and so his hands were steady until the sun went down. 1 3 So Joshua destroyed Amalek and his army with the sword.

1 4 You, however, must continue in the things you have learned and are confident about. You know who taught you 1 5 and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 1 6 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 1 7 that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work. 4 :1 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction.
