First Reading
Dt 30,10-14
1 0 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this scroll of the law. But you must turn to him with your whole mind and being. 1 1 “This commandment I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it too remote. 1 2 It is not in heaven, as though one must say, ‘Who will go up to heaven to get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?’ 1 3 And it is not across the sea, as though one must say, ‘Who will cross over to the other side of the sea and get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?’ 1 4 For the thing is very near you—it is in your mouth and in your mind so that you can do it.
Second Reading
Cl 1,15-20
1 5 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, 1 6 for all things in heaven and on earth were created in him—all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers—all things were created through him and for him. 1 7 He himself is before all things, and all things are held together in him. 1 8 He is the head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things. 1 9 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in the Son 2 0 and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross—through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
